You hear various religious denominations claiming to be or have the “true gospel” and wonder how does this all even make sense? What is the gospel anyway and why would there be different ones?
Jesus in his parable of the talents teaches us a valuable lesson that we as his disciples can find great joy and peace in if we understand and obey his teachings. First though we must understand the teaching so that we can heed its message.
Recorded in John chapter 14 verse 6 Jesus said “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.”
Have you ever wondered why Jesus taught with parables? Even Jesus’s disciples asked this question. “And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?”
To most, truth seems elusive and they spend their lives chasing it, being blown around like a Texas tumble weed until one day they catch on a barbed wire fence, bounce into a river, or get run over by a truck on interstate 40.
How do we heed the advice of Jesus given in Matthew 7:6? “Don’t waste what is holy on people who are unholy. Don’t throw your pearls to pigs!
